10 Adorable Animals That Can Kill You

you're out in the wild. Some of the scariest looking animals, like cellar spiders and bats and garden snakes, are actually harmless, while other animals commonly perceived as amicable and adorable are actually some of the deadliest creatures out there. Even some of the cute creatures that we think we know to be docile are surprisingly harmful to both humans and other wildlife.

This time Shub's Top Ten brings you a list of 10 Adorable Animals That Are Actually Deadly.

NO.1- Pufferfish

While the puffer-fish might've made a cute cameo in Finding Nemo, the marine species is actually quite dangerous. If eaten, these inflatable animals are toxic—1,200 times more poisonous than cyanide, to be exact.

NO.2- Slow Loris

These guys are so cute it’s easy to forget they’re bears. It’s true they stick mostly to bamboo, but that’s just their diet. When threatened, they attack just like any other bear. If they see you as a danger, they’ll bite you. And they’ll keep biting you until you’re not a danger anymore. Even if that means you lose your life in the process.

NO.3- Swans

Swans are known for being graceful, delicate birds. But, if you try to mess with their babies, they will come at you. When they feel threatened, swans will raise their wings and hiss, snort, grunt, and flap to get you to go away. It’s unlikely they could do any serious damage to a human, but you don’t want to try. When you're not avoiding swans, beware of water moccasins. Snake bites can do more damage than you think.

NO.4- PANDA

These guys are so cute it’s easy to forget they’re bears. It’s true they stick mostly to bamboo, but that’s just their diet. When threatened, they attack just like any other bear. If they see you as a danger, they’ll bite you. And they’ll keep biting you until you’re not a danger anymore. Even if that means you lose your life in the process.

NO.5- DOLPHIN

Sure, dolphins are cute when you're swimming with them on vacation in Cancun, but they're not nearly as cute when you're reading about how they bludgeon their own offspring to death. If these marine mammals are capable of killing their own young, then just imagine what they could—and would—do to a human.

NO.6- Polar Bears

White, fluffy, and totally deadly. Most bears are predators, and the polar bear is no exception. They’re not often found living close to humans, and it’s a good thing. These critters will actually stalk you for miles before finally attacking and eating you. Even worse? You might not be dead yet when they start to devour you. Keep your distance.

NO.7- KOMODO DRAGON

Okay, so not everyone thinks Komodo dragons are cute, but those of you who do better watch out. These reptiles have one deadly bite. Their saliva is among the most deadly known to man. It’s not just poison, it’s bacteria. It lives in the dragon’s mouth and transfers to your blood with one bite. Anything bit usually does within 24 hours. No thanks.

NO.8- Hedgehogs

Thinking of hedgehogs as dangerous may come as a surprise since a lot of people have them as household pets. But, their spikes can be very damaging to human skin or anything else that could be a potential predator. When a hedgehog feels safe, its spikes lay flat, allowing humans to pick them up and play with them. When they feel threatened, their spikes extend up vertically as it curls itself into a ball for protection.

NO.9- MOOSE

They look a little goofy, lovable, and a whole lot of cuddly. But if you see one, don’t give them a reason to charge you. These animals are massive, and if they think you’re coming after them, they’ll bring their full weight down on you. They don’t even need to bite you, they can just trample you to death. Nice thought, huh?

NO.10- MICE

With their big black eyes and furry little ears, the average house mouse looks like something out of a Disney movie. Yet each year, these pests are responsible for countless illnesses and deaths.

Fun fact: mice are the second most populous creatures on earth, second only to humans. They also spread diseases like it's their job: leptospirosis, hantavirus, salmonella, rat-bite fever, Lyme disease, typhus, and plague are all spread by these cute little guys.
